Product Photography Internship

I had the privilege of serving as a Photography Intern at Altar’d State’s Home Office in Knoxville, Tennessee. Throughout this internship, I worked extensively with Capture One, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Bridge, gaining hands-on experience in studio photography and e-commerce workflows. My responsibilities included photographing a wide range of accessories—from jewelry to shoes—while maintaining brand consistency and leveraging my eye for detail to produce high-quality product images.

I collaborated closely with two fellow interns to complete weekly shooting and editing deadlines, ensuring all assets were delivered on time. Each week, we participated in critiques with the photography team, allowing us to refine our work, apply feedback, and reshoot products when needed. This experience gave me valuable insight into the fast-paced nature of the fashion industry, where efficiency and adaptability are essential. In addition to product photography, I also assisted in creating video and social media content to support the brand’s digital presence.

Social Media Promo Videos

During my internship, I also contributed to styling and creating social media promotional videos for Altar’d State and its sister brand, AS Revival. One highlight was collaborating with a fellow intern to produce a stop-motion video promoting the Black Friday deals. The concept centered on sweaters transitioning from a shopping bag to a model, requiring careful attention to detail to ensure each frame blended seamlessly. This project was especially meaningful, as it echoed the stop-motion videos I used to create as a kid, giving me a chance to bring that early creativity into a professional setting. While my collaborator handled the primary editing in Premiere Pro, I remained closely involved by reviewing cuts and offering feedback throughout the process.

I also supported a second promotional video in a more behind-the-scenes capacity, contributing to the object-tossing sequences and providing feedback during the final review. These projects expanded my understanding of video production pipelines and reinforced the importance of teamwork, precision, and creative problem-solving within a fast-paced digital environment.

Social Media Carousel

Flat lay lifestyle photography was another key part of my internship experience, especially for social media content. Working alongside my fellow interns, I helped style and compose flat lays using a selection of clothing pieces and accessories provided by the team. Each setup required careful attention to color, proportion, and visual balance to ensure the final image felt cohesive and elevated. We selected props such as shoes, hats, and jewelry to create outfits that would inspire customers and help them envision how the pieces could fit into their own wardrobes. This process deepened my understanding of styling for digital platforms and highlighted how thoughtful composition can influence engagement and purchasing decisions.
